Our Basement is Done!

By Unknown | At 4:00 AM | Label : | 0 Comments

Less than a month ago our basement looked like this. You may remember it from this post

Well I can't believe it but it's done! It's a totally blank slate right now. Not much decorating will be happening down here for awhile since our main priority is finishing up Jett's room and the Nursery.

But in the meantime Jett is loving all this new space to play.

He could do summersaults down here all day.

It's not a very large space but it's going to make such a difference to have the extra room once the baby comes.

As you can see we have a lot of decorating work to do still. Here is our new vanity in action! The tile was purchased at Lowes.

This is the soon-to-be office. While I am really sad to be losing my current office I know that the baby is going to enjoy it. Plus this room is bigger and it still gets a lot of natural light.

I am really excited about having a little bit bigger closet as well to hang all my fabric in. Jett has been loving my closet for playing hide-and-go-seek with Mickey.

When our contractor Noah told us it would be done in less than a month we were a bit skeptical but he stuck to his word and we have been sooooo impressed with his work. He's been very efficient and professional and it's so nice having it done so fast. I would highly recommend him for any project.

You can contact him at arkassembly@gmail.com

It's exciting to have a whole new space to decorate! The first step will be buying a sectional and then we'll take it from there!

Now Available: One Hour E-Design Consults

By Unknown | At 4:00 AM | Label : | 0 Comments

Since I found out I was pregnant in January I have cut way back on my workload. In fact I haven't been taking on any new projects at all. I've been trying my hardest to finish up my current projects before the baby comes at the end of August.

I've been getting a lot of inquires about my services and in an effort to keep my work load steady while still taking it easy I am offering one hour e-design consults for a limited time only.

My one hour e-design consults are a chance for you to pick my brain for a full hour. You can use the hour for whatever you'd like. We can talk about space planning. You ask my opinion on paint color. I can put together a fabric scheme for you. You can show me all the troubled spots in your home and get my opinion.

Please note that I am not available for additional help beyond your one hour consult so this service isn't right for someone that is looking for a full on room design.

If you'd like to get started on this process please email me at kirstenkrason@gmail.com and I'll send you more information including pricing. Availability is limited so get in touch with me soon!

Dreams Do Come True

By Unknown | At 4:00 AM | Label : , , | 0 Comments

If you've been following my blog for awhile you know that I've been wanting a new master bedroom dresser for years now.

Our dresser was a hand-me-down from my husbands step-dad. We've moved it from house to house and honestly there were no plans in the immediate future to purchase a new one. It was a solid dresser that got the job done. There was always a part of me though that wanted something lighter and maybe just a little more "special".

Way back in March of last year (2011) I found a dresser at Downeast that I fell in love with.

I actually blogged about it a little bit in this post. This dresser is the Hampstead Long Dresser from Williams Sonoma Home.

It retails for almost $4,000. It wound up at Downeast because it was missing that beautiful marble top. Because of that they had it marked down to $2,000 that first time I saw it in March. It was still way more than I could ever spend so I tried as hard as I could to shove it out of my mind. But for the past year now I haven't been able to stop thinking about it. I would literally day dream about it in my bedroom and how amazing it would be.

Last week Downeast was having their annual tent sale and I saw the dresser marked down to $999. A fourth of it's retail price! But still it was more money than we could spend on a new dresser that we didn't' really need. So once again I tried to shove it out of my mind. We stopped by a few days ago to look at sectionals and I couldn't help to check if the dresser was still there and it was. It had now been marked to $799 plus they were offering an additional 30% off! I spent the rest of the day trying to convince my husband to let me buy it and I think he could see how I was obviously in love with it because he consented!

Can you hear angels singing in the heavens? I can.

I also had a gift card to Downeast so my total ended up being around $500. For us that is still a lot of money to spend on a piece of furniture but compared to what we would have spent if we bought it brand new it feels like a steal. Plus we were able to sell our brown dresser and put that money towards the new one.

Although it's missing it's amazing marble top I still love it. And who knows maybe one day I'll have one cut to fit it. It's such a quality made piece of furniture. I love how tall it is too.

The moral of this story is that sometimes I think items in our home are "meant to be" there. The fact that this dresser waited around over a year for me to buy it makes me feel like it belonged in my home all along. Sometimes all it takes is a little convincing of our husbands and a really great sale!

Bathroom Vanities Under $250

By Unknown | At 4:00 AM | Label : , | 0 Comments

Our basement budget is pretty tight. We have everything budgeted to the penny and we've trying not to go over our allotment. We gave ourselves $250 for our basement vanity and it's been a little tough to find anything that doesn't look awful. Through all our searching I've found some options that I like.

1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6

We decided to go with this option

I like the clean lines and the linen color. I haven't seen it in person yet so hopefully it looks okay in person.

Do you have any great resources for well priced vanities that I haven't found yet?

A Big Thank You and an Etsy Tote Bag Roundup

By Unknown | At 4:00 AM | Label : | 0 Comments

I just wanted to thank everyone who commented on my sectional post. You have no idea how much it helped us. We read each and every one and you all definitely provided us with lots of great ideas. We spent two days looking last week at Ikea, JCPenny, Macey's, Down to Earth and DownEast. As for now I think we are going to go with an Ikea one unless something else jumps out at us. I'll keep you all updated.

Here is a little summer tote bag roundup to get your week started on this lovely Monday!
