0 Nautical Playroom Reveal

On Tuesday I shared some insight into the process of designing this fun playroom and today I'm sharing the reveal! Thanks so much to Jylare Smith Photography for taking these pictures for us. 

The architecture and shape of the ceiling created easy divisions in the space.  We used one side for an art area, the other side for a play kitchen area and the middle we left open for playing and watching t.v. 

For the kitchen side we bought the small version of the Vintage Schoolhouse play table with the vintage steel play chair. 

I love this sailing kite ship and the whimsical feel it gives this space.

On either side of the window we added some art from Minted. 

Out to Sea

The Tribeca Media Storage fit perfectly on the far wall to store toys and their t.v. The paper mache shark is from here. The rug is the The Matra Flatweave Rug.

The flying gulls are to-the-trade. Contact me for more info. The baskets are great for oversized toy storage.

The blue boxes are from the Land of Nod. 

Between the two nooks we have the Go to it Laughing print from Minted. The bean bags are from PB Teen. 

Each window nook has a farmhouse pendant, floating shelves and a custom window bench made out of this fabric. 

The adorable octopus is from Pottery Barn kids. The solid coral pillows are from this etsy shop. The striped lumbar is from this etsy shop. We also bought the tassel pillows from Anthropologie. 

The other side of the room was made into an art area as well as a fun place for the kids to play school. 

We did the same play table but in the larger version. 

We also did our DIY octopus art in this space! To add art supply storage we bought the Jayden Metal Shelves. 

The paint color throughout her home is Benjamin Moore Gray Owl.

0 Pink and Purple Girl's Room Reveal

As promised here are the pictures from our Girl's Room reveal! I posted how the room came together on my blog yesterday.  Thanks to Jylare Smith Photography for these pictures! 

I love how this mirrored piece helped make small room feel bigger. The art is perfection.  Both the abstract and the geometric piece are from Alice Lane Home Collection.  Globe is from T.J. Maxx. Baskets are from Target. 

The gold foil print is from Jennifer Chase on Etsy. The hourglass is from T.J. Maxx. 

We had a little nook to put accessories so we had to choose carefully.  The gold bowl was found at a consignment store. Pink flowers are from Target. Boxes are from Target and ginger gar was found at a thrift store. 

Our clients kids LOVE to do art projects so we wanted a space for her to display some of her favorites.  We bought these adorable brass clips at Alice Lane Home Collection.

The rug is the Braided Pink Sparkly Rug from Land of Nod. The teal pouf is from Serena and Lily.

Our client had collected these geodes that we simply framed in Ikea frames.

I just love this spindle bed. The pillows worked perfectly in the color scheme too! The bedding is the color frame bedding from Serena and Lily and the elephant table is also from Serena and Lily.

0 Pink and Purple Girl's Room Design Process

One of our long time clients has slowly been having us decorate each of her kids rooms. You may remember her boy's room from this post and her girl's room from this post.  We just finished up her oldest daughters room and I wanted to share the process with you today and the reveal tomorrow! 

Our client was a pretty opinionated little girl who wanted a room with pink, blue, purple and hints of Asian elements. This seemed to be a tall order for us. Using pink,  blue and purple in a space could be slightly chaotic if not done correctly. With any child's space you risk it feeling too grown up or too childish. We wanted it to be a space she could venture into her teen years in.  We started out the room design with this fun bed from Land of Nod.

I love their spindle beds. They are timeless and adorable.  We ordered it with the trundle option so she could have friends sleep over.  This raspberry color is pretty bold so we had to be careful what we paired it with.  

We contemplated pairing it with either of these duvet covers.

The Color Frame Duvet or the Classic Duvet. 

We decided on the Color Frame Duvet because it gave us a chance to bring in purple and the red pink matched perfectly with the bed.  

At our first consult with our client's daughter she had picked this Bengal Bazaar in Magenta as her favorite fabric. (this girl already has such great taste!). 

So we added a pillow of that on the bed.  

We wanted some solid blue to add that to the bed so we bought these pillow covers on etsy.

We also bought this cute Asian doll to bring in that Asian theme that she wanted!

Is that not seriously adorable?! 

For the rug we found this one from Land of Nod that tied in the pink and purple that we had going on in the room:

Braided Pink Sparkly Rug

We wanted some sort of nightstand to add something next to the bed. We contemplated these options:

   Ellie Side Table                      Vera Side Table                     Webster Nesting Tables

We chose the Ellie table because it had a hint of chinoiserie which we wanted. It was also WAY cheaper than the other options.  

Our client loved the mirrored cabinet that we had used in this project and wanted to use it as a dresser. 

It's such a pretty piece and by adding baskets inside the shelves she could store clothes in it. We wanted to put a big piece of art above it because it was going on a long wall.  We liked these options:

We decided on the Petal Canvas because we loved the color variation.  But on a quick trip to Alice Lane Home Collection we fell in love with this piece. 

The colors were exactly what we were looking for and the size was perfect.  Sometimes I swear I have a designer guardian angel that is blessing me with the most perfect pieces. 

Our cute little client had originally wanted a princess room and we managed to talk her out of ordering this bed:

To compromise we let her have a canopy above the bed.  We loved this one from PB Kids.

0 Girl's Room Before & After

Erin and I finished up girl's room install a couple weeks ago and I'm excited to share the before and after with you today! Our client was a three year old little girl. This was her room when we came out to see it:

Their only request for the space was a bunk bed and the rest was up to us! Erin and I agreed that we needed a cushion on the window seat to make it cozier and some fun pillows. We also wanted to do an awesome roman shade since that window is the first thing you see when you walk in the room. The dresser and light fixture are the only thing that stayed. Here is the after! 

When we came out to do the consult our client instantly loved Kravet's XU Garden in teal. So we decided to make this our "wow" statement piece in the roman shade.  We hung the roman shade much higher than the actual window to make the window appear bigger. The rug is from overstock. 

Window cushions are not cheap to make so we wanted to save money with the fabric. Erin found this dark pink at a local remnant store. The gold heart pillow is from here. It looks like that one is sold out but you can find a similar pillow here. The floral print is made with this fabric. 

The chartreuse pillows are from Anthropologie. That furry beast is also from Anthro. It's super fun for a kid's space and oh so fun to pet. 

Our client kept her dresser but just gave it a fresh coat of paint. Good as new! We found the red mirror on clearance at Target. 

This PB Teen pig night light is adorable. 

The wall decals are from Land of Nod.  

The white bunk bed is from here. 

Our client actually made this light fixture by attaching coffee filters to an existing shade! 

We made the lumbars with Caitlin Wilson's fabric. The bedding is from PB Teen. 

The color scheme for the entire room actually came from this quilt that our client had. It was fun to pull so many vibrant colors from this heirloom quilt.  

I love imagining our little three year old client in her new room for years to come. I also love that this space can easily transition into a room for a tween or teen girl.
