Blog Tour

By Unknown | At 7:29 AM | Label : , | 0 Comments
Today I'm taking part in the Blog Tour you have probably seen going on in blogland. Thanks to Shelley from Crazy Wonderful for inviting me!

Now to answer a few questions!

How does my style differ from others in my genre?
There are truly so many talented designers out there. It's hard to say that any of us are better than each other but we are all unique in our design style.  I think you could give all of us the same pieces to put in a room and we'd probably all style and design the room differently! One of things I love most about putting a room together is trying to incorporate a classic feel while infusing lots of fun and colorful elements. I like spaces that feel lively but also sophisticated.

What am I working on?
My business partner Erin and I are working on lots of great projects! I think the best thing we're doing right now is working on sprucing up our own homes. Stay tuned for some great house tours! We've each gone through a transition in the feel that we want our homes to have so we've been sprucing up different areas. I've been putting the finishing touches on a new living room design, an office reveal, sprucing up the kitchen and adding some new elements to the master bedroom. I can't wait to share the spaces with you!

Why do I write/create what I do?
It's hard for me to explain sometimes to people how much I love what I do.  I feel incredibly blessed to be able to do what I do. I do what I do because I can't imagine life without it. I feel like every home, room and space has great potential for beauty. It doesn't always take millions of dollars and an incredible eye to make a room special. Sometimes it just takes a little love, a little attention and a few changes to bring out the beauty of a space. I love being able to do that for people.  I feel so lucky.

Now for the blogger I am sending the tour on to!

I'm passing the torch to one of my longtime blogging buddies Autumn from Design Dump. She continues to bring great inspiration to blogland with her room reveals and easy DIY Projects!

Isn't she amazing! Be sure to check out Design Dump next Monday for a continuation of the tour!

Family Photo Session with Brooke Shultz Photography

By Unknown | At 4:00 AM | Label : | 0 Comments

It's been awhile since we've taken some family shots in our house so I was ecstatic when I had the opportunity to work with Brooke Shultz. She's amazing! She was so great to work with and did a fantastic job capturing our crazy family. Our kids were super hyper when she was here so the fact that she even got one good picture is a miracle! She was so good with them and really photographed everything beautifully.

Introducing House of Jade Interiors

By Unknown | At 4:00 AM | Label : , , | 0 Comments

Some of you may have noticed a few changes happening to my business lately.  I mentioned last Fall that I was going to be taking on new clients again and that I had decided to take on a business partner. One of my best friends Erin has been working with me for years as my seamstress.  We've always had a good working relationship. She helped me out with a few projects and each time the process was so fun! I can't even explain to you how amazing it has been to work with my best friend.  I'm not gonna lie, I was getting really burnt out doing this on my own. Erin has breathed new life into the business and she really balances me out. She has an incredible eye and often suggests things that I would never think of.  It's so great to have two sets of eyes on everything and two people offering up suggestions.  I feel like we are really able to take our designs to a whole new level.

Once I decided to take on Erin as a partner it only made sense to rethink my Kirsten Krason Interiors business.  Erin and I do everything 50/50 and the business is just as much her as it is me.  So we are starting a new Interior Design business. We're re-branding with October Ink and will hopefully have a website up soon! Our new business, House of Jade Interiors, has been so much fun. We have big ideas and have been working hard and fast on turning out great rooms. I am able to work SO much faster now that I have Erin on board.

In honor of our new business we are offering a special deal on all our services!

You can get 20% off your design fee now until the end of July! To get started fill out this form!

This blog will continue to be written by me and will always be from my point of view.  Hopefully you'll help me welcome Erin with open arms.  She's amazing and deserves a lot of credit for all the great things that have happened with our business so far! She'll probably poke her head in on the blog once in awhile. She has a lot of great advice to give! Thanks for all your support!

Why I Love Living in Daybreak & The New Lake Village

By Unknown | At 4:00 AM | Label : | 0 Comments

If you follow me on instagram (@kirstenkrason) you are probably used to seeing snippets of life in my neighborhood of Daybreak.  All of the above pictures were taken right in my neighborhood.  We have lived here for 5  years and have loved every second of it.  It's amazing for kids and even adults who are young at heart! With walking trails, tennis and volleyball courts, multiple parks, a lake, beaches, boats, a pool and great shopping you literally never need to leave!

Plus the houses are adorable.

Right now Daybreak is opening up a new area for new homes called Lake Village. They had a few bloggers out for a day of fun including myself, Marianne from White + Gold Design, Jen from With Heart and Desiree from the 36th Avenue.

We had a blast experiencing the new Lake Village!

You are literally seconds away from the lake and from doing this...

.... and having lake side chats on your front porch with your friends like this...

There is also an amazing new park up the street where you can find all kinds of adventures.

And amazing shopping right down the road...

Which you could actually just ride your bike to...

I am not kidding you. This neighborhood is amazing and Lake Village is where it's at!

If you want another look at the views from Lake Village check out this amazing dinner we attended last week right on the lake.

Each of us bloggers will be designing a virtual dream home within Lake Village. I can't wait to show you what my dream lake house will look like! Don't forget to follow along with the other bloggers as well! They are all super talented.

Make sure you tune in tomorrow to see the reveal of our nautical playroom!

How to See Paris in a Day and a Half

By Unknown | At 4:00 AM | Label : | 0 Comments

Those who follow me on instgram (@kirstenkrason) saw that we took a little trip to Paris last week.  One of the many perks to being a pilots' wife is extremely cheap international plane tickets. There is a non-stop flight to Paris from Salt Lake that we've been dying to use. We fly standby so before we ever take any trips we always make sure the flights are wide open. But even with a wide open flight there is no guarantee. Luckily we made both of our flights there and back.

We left Sunday night and got home Wed afternoon so this really was a quick trip!

We booked two nights at the Derby Eiffel Hotel.  The hotel was great as far as cleanliness and location.  Our room was itty bitty but we were barely ever in our hotel so it didn't matter to us.

We slept really well on the airplane so we weren't too tired when we got in Monday morning.  Our first stop was the Eiffel Tower! It was a 10 minute walk from our hotel.  There was a HUGE line to take the elevator to the top so we decided to take the stairs.  It was a great reminder of how out of shape I am! (the air was probably a lot thinner in France right?).

The view was amazing even from the lower levels.  We ate at little sandwich stands both days for lunch.  The bread is so tasty.

The weather was supposed to be in the 50's which seemed pretty nice so we naively didn't bring any coats!  It was pretty cold though and at night we were freezing! So we set out to do a little shopping.

Pretty much every single street you walk down in Paris belongs in a movie or a dream.  There are picture-perfect scenes every where you turn.  We headed to the main shopping area where I found a great  coat at H&M and some gloves and a scarf!

After shopping we talked back to the Eiffel tower and looked for some food on our way.  We stopped at the cutest little restaurant (they are all cute!) right by the tower.

The crepes in Paris are AMAZING. SO good.  I can hardly even look at this picture without my mouth watering.

Day two was really our only full day in Paris! We really wanted to see Versailles so we decided to dedicate the day to that and then see whatever else we could fit in when we were done.  We took a train out there and it was really neat to get to see some of the smaller areas next to the big city.

Versailles is stunning.  I lived in Russia for awhile so I feel that I've seen my fair share of beautiful palaces but this one was unlike any other.  Every corner was opulent and ornate.

After touring the palace we rented bikes down by the canal to ride around the gardens.

No matter where we ever travel we always try to find some moments to enjoy the outdoors.

After Versailles we walked to Notre Dame and Sainte Chapelle. Both were beautiful.

My one huge disappointment from the trip is that the Louvre was closed! I was super bummed but I guess it's just an excuse to go back! We walked back to the Eiffel tower and grabbed dinner at another restaurant right off the street. Then we decided to hike the tower again so we could see the city at night.

While we were up there the lights started twinkling all over the tower! It was incredible .

Before we went back to our hotel we had to make time for one more crepe stop.  I can't get enough.

The trip really was so fun.  I hope to see lots of beautiful and inspiring places in my life.  My husband is hoping our next trip is somewhere warmer and tropical. We shall see....
